NandiKund

The pristine lake of NandiKund which is located at a breathtaking elevation of 15,748 ft. at the route of Kalpeshwar – Madhyamaheshwar trail is a perfect site for travellers who just wish to get lost in the beauty of nature. Throughout the trail, travellers would come across breathtaking views of snow covered peaks of Mandani and Chaukhamba with lush green meadows. The entire lake is covers an area of 1.5 km. The high altitude trek is home to lofty mountains, beautiful grasslands and dense forests. At the early summer or spring season travellers would come across plenty of snow on the route. Different sites like Nandkiund, Pandavsera, Kachani Dhar and Madhyamaheshwar get covered in the trekking route towards Nandikund.

Travellers can visit the old temple which is just nearby the Nandikund lake. In the temple you would find some very old swords that have been preserved and are worshipped. It is believed that these swords belonged to the Pandavas. The beautiful site of Nandikund is mostly visited by people who’re in for wanderlust. Travellers can experience the best forms of natural beauty by visiting the destination between June and May from Middle August to October end. Almost everything you come across the trail feels heavenly and the whole trek is also known for its altering environment like dense forests, lush green fields, cloudy mountains, alpine meadows, etc. Upon reaching the site of Nandi Kund you’ll be in a completely world astounded by its breathtaking natural splendors.

The entire route becomes completely scenic at rainy season. However it isn’t recommended for travellers to head there during rains due to possibility of landslides and roadblocks.

How To Reach

By Air: Air travellers are advised to book flights till the Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun. Dehradun is connected with daily flights to different Indian cities. The airport is located at a total distance of 198 kms from the town.

By Rail: Rishikesh is the nearest railway head with trains frequently available to major Indian cities. The railway station is at a distance of around 174 kms away from the picturesque town.

By Road: The town of Ukimath is well linked to other towns and major cities in Uttarakhand through motorable roads. One can board buses till Srinagar or Rishikesh from Kashmiri Gate ISBT, Delhi.
