There are chances of getting roads blocked for a couple of hours dueto landslides but the scenic beauty of Chopta during monsoons is worth taking the risk. Do carry raincoats.

But you can see the best of Chopta during winters as it looks like mini Switzerland during winters. Winters are freezing at Chopta so do carry heavy woollens.

How to Reach

The secluded hill station of Chopta has its location in Rudraprayag – Ukhimath – Gopeshwar Highway. The town is at a distance of around 40 kms from Ukhimath and around 63 kms away from the town of Rudraprayag.

By Air: The nearest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is at a distance of 226 kms from Chopta. Jolly Grant Airport is well connected to Delhi with four round flights in a weak .Taxis are available from Jolly Grant Airport to Chopta.

By Rail: The closest railway station is Rishikesh which is 209kms away.Taxis, buses are easily available from Rishikesh to Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Ukhimath and Chopta.

By Road: The hill station of Chopta is well linked with motorable roads of Garhwal regions of the state of Uttarakhand. You can follow NH58 until you’re able to reach towards Rudraprayag and after you reach Rudraprayag you can follow Kedarnath route and turn right towards Ukhimath. Travellers can also reach Chopta from Gopeshwar town through taxis and buses that are connected with major towns of the Garhwal and Kumaon regions of Uttarakhand.
